The Weakest Link
Adrian.

Worst keeper we have had for years.

In fact, have we had a starting goalkeeper as bad as him?

Agree with that Buster. Basically he has a season to make the position his own. Can see both sides of the argument, he doesn't convince me but has done enough to be given a chance this season.

Thought he was very good again today, as he was last week.

Three suggestions:

Ruddy of Norwich
Boruc on loan at Bournemouth from Southampton.
Grant of Derby

Can't see Chelsea releasing Cech, who would be first choice if available.

Petr Cech would be nice on loan for the rest of the season
I'd make jenkinson perm if we can as well

Re: The Weakest Link
Definitely the weak link in the line up, but I don't feel as nervous as when Jussi was number 1. Good shit stopper, but doesn't seem to be of the level of a top level Prem team. There are a few decent keepers out there so sure we would be able to pick up an upgrade - Ruddy at Norwich could be worth a look. Adrian is definitely still young for a keeper so could push on, has the attributes but as others have said - has some of the annoying traits if the continental keeper, traits which are certainly a weakness in English football.

I think we are a centre half and goalkeeper away from being a genuine threat to the top 6. It's a real shame Ravel hasn't pushed on, we have a line up and formation where he would thrive - perfect back up to Downing.

The weakest link(s) are without a doubt:

Collins
Cole
Nolan

If replaced we could be aiming for top 6

Re: The Weakest Link
Too many clangers still but he is improving little by little in other parts of his game. His IMHO issue is that he is afraid of getting hurt as a lot of the continental keepers are. Needs to be more of a physical presence.

I think it is premature to be writing him off just yet because I do see some improvements especially with his ability to save shots that are hit hard and low which was a weakness he definitely had. Anyway, we will need another keeper for the squad soon so hopefully will get someone even better.

Re: The Weakest Link
He's adequate for our purposes, I would be turning my attention to CB for when Reid eventually fucks off.

Thought it was a foul today by the usual standards of protection keepers get, but if we'd been penalised for the same thing I'd have probably done my pieces. Soft goal.

We have worse fans than arsenal nowadays.

At least those plastic idiots generally support their players.

I think it was quite clear that Noble is the weakest Link.

He looks poor in that side

Re: The Weakest Link
He dropped it. I don't think it was a foul. He made the decision to go for it and wasn't strong enough and made a right fuck up of it.

Even in the first half he come rushing out and slid to take the ball and ended up kneeing it back out the box, quite inexplicably.

i think he's got a great attitude, the fans like his passion, he's just not there yet.

By all accounts he is a really good guy as well.

Re: The Weakest Link
I think this thread was worded really badly as we have such a good squad right now that Adrian is probably one of the players that we would look to improve upon given the opportunity.

Not that he's a bad goalkeeper, because he's not. But simply because we are strong in a lot if areas now and keeper and centre half are where we probably could strengthen, given the right players becoming available.

I thought we had all agreed that Collins, Cole and O'Brien were this seasons absolutely talentless disgraces who were not fit to wear the shirt...

Re: The Weakest Link
Yesterday's goal was a foul but a hard as nails keeper would have ploughed through that scrum of players and made it his regardless. Every player nowadays looking for the foul rather than playing the ball.

Would likeus to get someone solid and dependable again. McCarthy will be a top keeper and one we should be looking at. Would love Begovic though, brilliant reflexes and great hands.

Re: The Weakest Link
It was definitely a foul and he made a few decent saves. He hasn't cost us any points yet but I know what everyone's saying - it just always feels like a massive mistake is just around the corner.

Oh, and Allan McKnight.
